Asuwa-yama Koen Amusement Park

Mt. Asuwa-yama is situated in the southwest of Fukui-shi. The district contains athletic fields, a small zoo, Asuwa Jinja Shrine, the Municipal Folklore Museum, and the Natural Science Museum. The highest point, at an altitude of 117 meters, commands a fine view of the lower city and the Hakusan mountains on sunny days. The district takes pride in its park with 4,000 cherry blossoms and 5,500 hydrangeas. The Municipal Folklore Museum has exhibits on the history and industry of Fukui, and the artifacts of its former great men. The zoo has some rare animals, such as a pair of small Indian civet from China. On fine days, you can see ponies playing in the field.
