Hirosaki Park (Hirosaki-jo Castle): one of 7 most famous castles in Japan
For a period of 260 years, Hirosaki-jo Castle has been the residence for several generations of the Tsugaru clan feudal lords. Today the castle grounds have been turned into a park spread over 500,000 square meters with the castle tower housing a museum of historic swords, helmets and armor suits. In addition to the tower, 3 turrets, 5 gates, and 3 moats are still intact, making Hirosaki-jo one of the few castle premises in the nation that maintains the original layout. Hirosaki-jo, one of Japan's important cultural assets, is a popular cherry blossom viewing spot.
