Fossa Magna ParkThe Fossa Magna is a fault line which is thought to divide the Eurasia plate and the North America plate, which crosses main land Japan from Itoigawa City, through Nagano Prefecture and Yamanashi Prefecture, to Shizuoka Prefecture. The movement of the two plates is considered a cause of the great earthquake of 1983. Fossa Magna Park was built as a park where everyone can observe the great fault. Near the park, there is a lava bed which indicates the rise of the ocean floor.
