Ame-ichi (Candy Fair)

Held January 10, 11 of each year.

Hyocho Festival

Hyocho Festival

Held end of January of each year.
A large-scale winter event taking advantage of snow-covered Shinshu. Artists compete in their works of ice sculptures.

Matsumoto Kanko Sakura Matsuri (Cherry Blossom Festival)

Held mid to end of April.

Utsukushigahara Kogen Kaizan Sai (Commencement of Hiking Season)

Held May 18.

Zenkoku Taiko Festival

Kokuho Matsumoto-jo Zenkoku Taiko Festival (The National Drum Festival)

Held July 26, 27.
This year will be the festival's 11th anniversary. Participants enjoy Japanese tradition through taiko drums. The beat produced by energetic swings of drumsticks echoes through the Alps.

Kokuho Matsumoto-jo Takigi-no Theater

Held July 28.

Summer Festival Matsumoto Bon Bon

Held August 2.

Saito Kinen Festival

Held August 30 - September 8.

Asama Onsen Taimatsu Festival

Held October 3.
A rite known as one of the three rarest festivals in Japan. Straws are bunched together to make 100 offerings of taimatsu torches. The event also known as the Fire Festival is exciting and dynamic; men and women young and old parade through town with their burning torches.

Shiminsai Matsumoto Matsuri / Castle Festival

Held November 3.
