Nogawa Park

Nogawa Park, various facilities in nature

This large park extends in both north and south directions from To-hachi Road. It used to be a golf course belonging to the International Christian University. The Nogawa River flows through the park, and its north side forms part of the river terrace eroded by old Tamagawa River. Under the cliff there is ground water springing out. The spring water has formed a natural wet land, pond, and small creek, which are preserved in their natural state. In the park, there is a Nature Observatory to enjoy wild birds, insects, and plants, as well as a Nature Observation Center displaying the mechanics of spring water where visitors can learn about nature (closed on Mondays). Spring water pours into the Nogawa River, (which is 10 meters wide), and water birds such as spotbill ducks, little egrets and kingfishers gather. In the huge field, there are; some space for barbecuing, Wanpaku-no mori forest with an athletic course, tennis courts (fee required) as well as a gate ball field. Visitors can enjoy various recreation activities in the good old natural environment of the Musashino Plain.
