Kyara Kyara, a cafe using fresh roasted coffee beans
This cafe is located on Sakura-dori Street not far from Mitaka Station, north exit. Sitting by the window inside, you can see wild cherry trees along the Tamagawa River, and enjoy a peaceful time, forgetting the chores in everyday life. Mr. and Mrs. Kojima, the couple who owns this place say, "We retired from the company before reaching the retirement age so that we could start working, interacting with other people when we are still physically able to do so". As both of them are great fans of ceramics, there are Arita wares and European wares including Wedge Wood, displayed in their collection. They use coffee beans roasted over a charcoal fire for a long time. The popular home made cheese cake and siphon cake are tasty without too much sweetness. "For those customers who want to have their own space, we provide quiet privacy, on the other hand, if the customer wants company to talk to, we create a friendly atmosphere so that they can easily talk to us". The couple is trying to make their cafe such an ideal place. Open 10 a.m. - 9 p.m., closed on Tuesdays.

M Patisserie Monsieur M, Mitaka,
The most popular item among the various ones displayed in the show case is the Mont Blanc "Monsieur". The combination of chestnut cream, which is made from only the best ingredients, and custard cream, melt in the mouth creating an exquisite flavor. "Mont Blanc is a basic kind of desert, so it is often not paid much attention. However, the simpler it is, the more a cook can demonstrate his skill", the owner Hirai Motoomi says. The baked confectionery series called Ayatori are popular as gifts. They are made with a motif that is related with nature around the Musashino Plain or the titles of works by artists related to this town. There are also some tables and chairs where you can enjoy cake and tea. Open 10 a.m. - 7 p.m., closed every third Wednesdays.
