Machigwa (market) is a must for visitors--Makishi Public Market

Machigwa means market in the local dialect, and it developed from the flea markets started during the post-war period. Centered around the Makishi Public Market, the energetic anma ladies sell various kinds of groceries. The cafeteria on the second floor of the Makishi Public Market serves all kinds of Okinawan cuisine. Their menu which lists specialties in the Okinawan dialect features stewed pork, pork ear skin, stewed pork feet, etc. You can also have them cook the fresh meat and vegetables that you bought at the market.
