Tosho-gu Spring Festival (May 17 - 18)

This festival is a reenactment of the Sen-nin Musha Gyoretsu (a thousand warriors' parade). The origin of this parade was for moving the enshrined Shogun Tokugawa Ieyasu from Mt. Kuno-zan (Shizuoka prefecture) to Nikko. The festival is held two times a year; once in the spring and once in the fall. The spring festival is the larger of the two.
