Nikko Tosho-gu Museum of Art

This museum includes Japanese paintings by Yokoyama Taikan which are considered to be national treasures. It is also the location of the shrine office which was built in 1928.
Admission: Adults 800 yen / Open 9 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. (closed at 4 p.m. November-March)

2-min. walk from Ichi-no-torii.

Nikko Botanical Garden

This garden belongs to Tokyo University. Here, you can study about alpine and marshland plants. The best time to visit is from spring to the beginning of summer when azaleas, Japanese skunk cabbages, and rhododendrons are in bloom.

10-min. bus ride from Tobu Nikko Station.

The Nikko National Science Museum

You can study all about the nature of Nikko here. There are computers, videos and interactive displays which provide information about seasonal flowers, hiking courses, and more.
Admission: Adults 800 yen / Open 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. (10 p.m. - 4 p.m. November - March), closed Wednesdays, December - March / 0288-55-0880

Located next to the Chuzen-ji Onsen (Chuzen-ji Spa) bus stop.

Science Museum

Japan Amphibian Laboratory

This is a laboratory for studying Sansho-uo (salamanders). You can also see displays featuring giant salamanders which are precious natural products.
Admission: Adults 500 yen / Open 8:30 a.m.- 6 p.m. ( 9 a.m. - 5 p.m., November - April ), closed irregularly / 0288-55-0039

5-min. bus ride from Chuzen-ji Onsen (Chuzen-ji Spa).
