Senshouji TempleThis temple was founded in 1630 by the Buddhist Jodo sect. In the temple premises is the tomb of Okita Soushi who was born in 1844 in the Shirakawa clan's mansion located near Senshouji Temple. Zenpukuji TempleIt is said that this temple was founded by the famous Kukai, a Buddhist priest also known as Kobodaishi. A well that is said to have sprung up where Kukai poked his cane and a 700 year old gingko tree (a natural monument) that sprouted from a cane that Shinran (Buddhist priest) dug into the ground can be found in the premises. The tomb of Fukuzawa Yukichi, founder of Keio Gijuku (now Keio University) is in the Zenpukuji premises as well.
