Shikimibaru Sukoyaka-no-mori Camping
The campsite spreads along an area at 1,200 meters above sea level. Surrounded by Japanese larch groves, the view of the Kyushu mountain ranges make this location a great place to camp. There are bungalows, automobile camp grounds equipped with hot showers, and tents set up to rent. Open April through November only.
Entrance Fee 200 yen / 12,000 yen per bungalow per night per five people, maximum capacity 8 people

Gokase Highland Ski Grounds
Japan's southern-most ski grounds. Gokase Highland Ski Grounds offer 3 types of slopes: the advanced, beginner and intermediate, and family course. Plasti-snow allows skiers to use the facilities year-round.

From Takachiho bus terminal take the Miyako Bus for Motoyashiki. Get off at the terminus (1 hr. ride) and take a 30 min. ride on the shuttle bus (operates during winter).

Amaiwado Spa
From the large window, bathers enjoy the view of the mountains beyond the peaceful countryside. It is almost like an outdoor bath. The rather alkaline hot spring is said to be good for rheumatism, chronic digestion problems, relaxation and beauty enhancement. The spa features all sorts of baths and western-style and Japanese-style resting areas.

From Takachiho bus terminal take the Miyako Bus for Amaiwado. Get off at Amaiwado Onsen (15 min. ride) and walk 15 min.
