Tomakomai Port Festival This is a major event held every year in early August. The local town committees, businesses, and school organizations from kindergartens to high schools form teams to participate in the Shimin Dance Parade. The parade is packed with creative ideas contributed by the participants. Other features include the Port Carnival, the Marching Festival and much more.

Tomakomai Skating Festival This festival is held at the Highland Sports Center in February featuring a competition of ice statues and the triathlon on ice. The slide made of ice is the children's favorite. Savor the taste of lamb cooked on a steel barrel at the festival. This specialty helps the people forget about the freezing cold.
